Exercise for the Chiropractic patient
Typically chiropractors advise their patients to exercise in order to aid in the improvement of their condition and to strenthen their overall musculo-skeletal system. Exercise will generally go a long way to prevent many future episodes of pain arising from exacerbation of old injuries, repetitive stress syndromes, and future insults to the musculo skeletal system.
Healthy muscles tend not to spasm easily and are better equiped to handle stresses of day to day activities. Healthy strong ligaments help to hold joints in proper alignment and thereby reduce injury. Both muscles and ligaments can be strengthened via resistance. This together with stretching exercises help keep the musculo skeletal system stay healthier.
Typically, those patients who comply with exercise programs, do much better than those who either do not exercise or exercise only until their acute episode of pain has abated.
Patients will receive an exercise program appropriate to their particular needs and abilities.
